A spy craft movie like many others, with the significant and interesting twist that our main spy character really has no clue what he’s doing and it’s play seriously throughout the entire flick. There’s been humorous versions of this like Get Smart or Austin Powers, but this is the first in my recent memory where there’s a matter of vengeance to be settled, the protagonist has an idea of how it should happen, but doesn’t have the skills or emotional fortitude to carry through his acts of violence. There’s some unfortunate issues with the driving acts of terrorism that set our man off on his journey and comes dangerously close to being a “fridge your girlfriends” situation with at least two ladies.
At the end of the day this is an enjoyable film with a unique twist on the spy vengeance story that we all know and love.
