Directed by John Landis. With Eddie Murphy, Paul Bates, Garcelle Beauvais, Feather. An extremely pampered African Prince travels to Queens, New York, and goes undercover to find a wife that he can respect for her intelligence and will.
With a sequel well on it’s way to Amazon Prime, they’re pushing the UHD original film pretty hard on their streaming service, to prime the royal pump. The movie still holds up very well, if not for the indentured sex slaves and gratuitous nudity of (admittedly beautiful) women that didn’t have the option to not sleep with their king. In it’s defense, the whole point of the film is that the Prince is unhappy with his structured perfect life, which is how he ends up in Queens, New York. The humor still lands as well as it ever has, so if you can look past the background stuff it’s still a fine movie.
