“Soul” Review

Directed by Pete Docter, Kemp Powers. With Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Graham Norton, Rachel House. A musician who has lost his passion for music is transported out of his body and must find his way back with the help of an infant soul learning about herself.

In many ways this is not a kid’s film and I mean that in the best of ways. “Soul” best serves as an emotional sequel to “Inside Out”, with a dash of “Oh, God!” and “Freaky Friday“. It’s a Pixar film, so you know that at some point you’re going to be crying like a little baby, so just be ready for the emotional dominos to be set up, then expertly knocked down.

As a side note with no spoilers, if you’re aware of Disney’s massive push to have their content consumed by Chinese citizens, you’ll see a few items here to give their communist friends some content to enjoy.

Currently streaming on Disney+ in 4k/hdr.
