Set on a stretch of highway in a budget motel managed by Bobby (a career-best Willem Dafoe), just outside the imagined utopia of Disney World, The Florida Project follows 6-year-old Moonee and her rebellious mother over the course of a single summer.

Many people live just a couple paychecks away from living like this, I know many of them and but for the grace of god, they get to live in their own homes with their own families. William Dafoe is absolutely fantastic as the motel manager and I get the impression that the cameras were on the kids a fair bit to just catch them being kids around the motel, because their performances were scarily true to life.

It’s a sad movie, but one that I would highly recommend.
