I note that there was a change from Paramount to New Line, not sure if that explains the change in quality, but this film had a distinct USA Up All Night feel to it, very cheap and the acting was…unfortunate. Considering the other movie’s low bar in acting, it was unfortunate that the budget and/or skills just weren’t there. I’m particularly dissatisfied with the whole “jumping from body to body” concept, it seems to completely dismiss Jason’s true horror of a massive, impossible to stop monster that’s coming to get you and your only defense is to completely destroy his body. I know that there are further disappointments down this road, as I vaguely recall seeing Jason X, but it’s still sad to see such a horror icon reduced to being a monster of the week.
