The absolutely best Spider-man film that Sony has ever put out, with one of the distracting and obscene new visual technology that I’ve ever had the horror to experience. I got used to it after about an hour, but I hope this is their last attempt with this processes, it was incredibly painful to watch at times. If you’ve ever been to a 3d movie and took your glasses off half way through, that’s what this looked like at times.
The story and visuals (when not in 3d/2d mashed up mode) were amazing though and by far my favorite of all the Spider-man movies. I just hope that Sony learns the right lessons here and gives us more animated movies that get it right and fewer movies like Venom that sorta get it right, but not really.
Do yourself a favor and go watch this in the theater, a Dolby Digital one if you can, it’s that good.
