Blade Runner 2049

blade runner 2049 poster Blade Runner 2049

A new blade runner unearths a secret that could plunge what’s left of society into chaos and leads him on a quest to find a former LAPD blade runner who’s been missing for 30 years.

Ana de Armas steals the show, which is an amazing feat of acting ability, as everyone gives their absolute best performances of their their careers, with the exception of Harrison Ford, who’s doing his best to make sure his career ends with a firm passing of the baton, for better or worse. Absolutely breath taking, and as I may have mentioned previously, you really need to watch the first film to know what you’re getting into with this second one. The original story doesn’t really matter too much and you won’t be lost at all, but the trailers make this out to be a balls to the wall action film, when it’s so much more than that. This is the first 80’s movie sequel that the progress of the tech made sense to me. An example of one that didn’t? Alien compared to Alien Covenant. In Blade Runner 2049 Earth is still the trash pile of the universe and no one is tending to it’s upkeep in a way that would make any progress against the constant winds of change.

I highly suggest watching this one in theaters, especially if you have access to one of the fancy Dolby Digital screens with the high contrast projectors, it’s amazing to see and hear it on such a large scale.
